Wellness credits are only available if you are enrolled in a John Hancock medical plan. Wellness credits will be applied in installments of $150 on a quarterly basis during the last pay-period of each quarter. Note that you must be enrolled in John Hancock medical coverage on the day the wellness credit file is sent to Payroll in order to receive the quarterly wellness credit payout. Wellness credits details will appear on your paystub under the 'Pretax Deductions' item labeled 'Quarterly Wellness Credits.' Note that your Vitality Points and Status reset each year.
Eligible employees hired between July 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018 will automatically earn $600 in wellness credits for 2019. If you are a new employee in 2019 who is enrolled in a John Hancock medical plan, you are automatically eligible to receive up to $600 in wellness credits towards your medical premiums in 2019. Note that depending on when you are hired, your wellness credits will be prorated and awarded quarterly.
If you are hired in 2019, you will automatically qualify for wellness credits in 2019. Only those hired on or after July 1, 2019 automatically qualify for wellness credits in 2020. If you are hired prior to July 1, 2019 you need to earn them for 2020. Wellness credits will automatically be granted on a quarterly go-forward basis if you were not previously enrolled in medical plan coverage as the subscriber through John Hancock, but become enrolled in medical plan coverage as the subscriber through John Hancock going forward. Automatic wellness credit allocation only applies to the year in which the change in coverage occurs, unless you enroll in medical plan coverage July 1, 2019 or later.
Reasonable Alternative Standard
Your health plan is committed to helping you achieve your best health. Rewards for participating in a wellness program are available to all employees enrolled in a medical plan through John Hancock. If you think you might be unable to meet a standard for a reward (reward can include avoidance of a surcharge) under this wellness program, you might qualify for an opportunity to earn the same reward by different means. Vitality's Personal Pathways* have been designed to provide all members with a Reasonable Alternative Standard to earn health-contingent points. Member-specific alternatives as advised by your healthcare professional will be provided by Vitality. If a member ever feels he or she is medically unable to satisfy the requirements or the provided Reasonable Alternative Standard needed to earn points, the member will be able to complete a Medical Waiver Form. The Medical Waiver Form can be found on the Power of Vitality Website.
