HealthMatters is our wellness program, aimed at helping you achieve your best possible physical, emotional and financial wellbeing. Promoting good health and helping you reach your wellness goals are the best ways to help you enjoy your life – at work and at home. We encourage you to take advantage of these programs and be engaged in your health.

Through HealthMatters, we offer incentives that can benefit you financially. All of these incentives could add up to a total of $1,400 each year:

  • Up to $600: Wellness Credits for certain activities described below
  • Up to $400 in Vitality Bucks
  • Up to $400: Stay Fit Benefit (fitness, Weight Watchers, bike share programs and tobacco cessation programs)
  • Earn wellness credits through Vitality

    The Vitality Employee Wellness program rewards you for completing activities that support a healthier you. For 2019, we are challenging you to achieve Vitality Gold Points Status or higher by December 31, 2019. In return, you can earn up to $600 in wellness credits (awarded quarterly) towards your medical premiums in 2020. Depending on when you are hired, your wellness credits will be prorated and awarded quarterly.

    Tips on how to earn wellness credits

    How do I get started?

    If you are a first-time user, you must register by visiting and following the steps below:

    1. Click on ‘Register Now’
    2. Complete all required fields (i.e., first name, last name, date of birth, 6-digit EE ID, etc.)
    3. Once your information has been verified, you will be asked to create a Username and Password
    4. Read and accept the Terms and Conditions
    5. Enter your security question
    6. You’re registered!

    Wellness credits are only available if you are enrolled in a John Hancock medical plan. Wellness credits will be applied in installments of $150 on a quarterly basis during the last pay-period of each quarter. Note that you must be enrolled in John Hancock medical coverage on the day the wellness credit file is sent to Payroll in order to receive the quarterly wellness credit payout. Wellness credits details will appear on your paystub under the 'Pretax Deductions' item labeled 'Quarterly Wellness Credits.' Note that your Vitality Points and Status reset each year.

    Eligible employees hired between July 1, 2018 and December 31, 2018 will automatically earn $600 in wellness credits for 2019. If you are a new employee in 2019 who is enrolled in a John Hancock medical plan, you are automatically eligible to receive up to $600 in wellness credits towards your medical premiums in 2019. Note that depending on when you are hired, your wellness credits will be prorated and awarded quarterly.

    If you are hired in 2019, you will automatically qualify for wellness credits in 2019. Only those hired on or after July 1, 2019 automatically qualify for wellness credits in 2020. If you are hired prior to July 1, 2019 you need to earn them for 2020. Wellness credits will automatically be granted on a quarterly go-forward basis if you were not previously enrolled in medical plan coverage as the subscriber through John Hancock, but become enrolled in medical plan coverage as the subscriber through John Hancock going forward. Automatic wellness credit allocation only applies to the year in which the change in coverage occurs, unless you enroll in medical plan coverage July 1, 2019 or later.

    Reasonable Alternative Standard

    Your health plan is committed to helping you achieve your best health. Rewards for participating in a wellness program are available to all employees enrolled in a medical plan through John Hancock. If you think you might be unable to meet a standard for a reward (reward can include avoidance of a surcharge) under this wellness program, you might qualify for an opportunity to earn the same reward by different means. Vitality's Personal Pathways* have been designed to provide all members with a Reasonable Alternative Standard to earn health-contingent points. Member-specific alternatives as advised by your healthcare professional will be provided by Vitality. If a member ever feels he or she is medically unable to satisfy the requirements or the provided Reasonable Alternative Standard needed to earn points, the member will be able to complete a Medical Waiver Form.     *This voluntary program applies to U.S. domiciled benefit-eligible employees only. Employees do not have to be enrolled in medical coverage through John Hancock to participate in the Vitality Employee Wellness Program however you must be a subscriber in 2019 to receive Wellness Credits. To be considered a subscriber you must be enrolled in medical coverage through John Hancock for 2019. You must be enrolled in a medical plan through John Hancock to be eligible for other incentives through Vitality, including Vitality Bucks, and to participate in the Vitality Check. Your health and wellness information is kept secure by our third-party service provider. The company will receive aggregate-level data that will be used to inform benefits and wellness programming.

  • LifeWorks: Employee Resource and Referral Program

    Confidential resource and counseling services can help you and your family deal with life's challenges successfully. This service, offered through LifeWorks, focuses on support, coaching and action planning with work and family issues, personal matters, legal or financial issues, and more - all of which are completely confidential and free of charge. Consultants are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

  • Stay Fit Benefit
